Member meetings / speaker series

Want to know more about the Midtown Business Association? Then join us at a monthly meeting to meet fellow members and listen to an engaging topic. Our members represent many businesses within the Midtown area, and our speakers present topics of wide interest.

When?

 Midtown Business Association member meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of the month from noon to 1 p.m. There are no general meetings held in August and December. 

MBA MEMBERS: Mark your 2024 calendars for another exciting MBA speaker series. Bring your lunch (unless otherwise noted) and enjoy light snacks courtesy of the MBA.

• Jan. 24 – Omaha City councilman Danny Begely will discuss the latest council happenings and answer your questions. 

• Feb. 28 – Hear from Diane Mendenhall, president of Nebraska Pro Volleyball.

• March 27 – Chantal Wentz, volunteer relations manager with RISE Academy, a nonprofit focused solely on habilitative programming in prisons and reentry support.

• April 24 – A representative with the Omaha Streetcar Authority will provide updates on the streetcar project. 

Where?  

Presentations will be in-person at Security National Bank, 35th and Farnam streets. Parking is available on the north side of the building.

How Much? 

No charge to MBA members.

Networking Sessions

Free quarterly networking events for MBA members promote local MBA businesses by allowing them to showcase their operations to other members and potential customers. Individuals who attend have the opportunity to meet and network with business colleagues, discuss topics of interest and potentially create additional business opportunities. Networking events often include tours by the host.

Mark your calendars for the MBA’s 2024 networking events: 

• Feb. 21, 2024 – Pando PEO will host MBA members and guests from 4-6 p.m. in The Cloud Room in the Blackstone Plaza, 3555 Farnam Street. Drinks and light refreshments available. Attendees will have an opportunity to network and win a $50 gift card to a Midtown business.

• Oct. 18, 2023 – Join us at Pa Mas Taqueria & Grill, 220 S. 31 Ave., from 4-6 p.m. The event is sponsored by Midtown Crossing.

• May 17, 2023 – Join us at The Mill Coffee & Tea, 3105 Leavenworth Streets, and see firsthand the transformation of the 1920s Art Deco building. The event runs from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and the Sloans (owners of The Mill) will be on hand to accept the MBA’s Neighborhood Improvement Award.

• March 27, 2023 – John Lund, founder and chairman of The Lund Company, will tell us how Kiewit Plaza became Blackstone Plaza – a beacon for the neighborhood. You’ll also see the incredible view from the storied Cloud Room in Blackstone Plaza, 3555 Farnam Street (enter via the main lobby). Sponsored by Zaiss & Company, the event runs from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
